Slopes of Beinn Ruadh
Slopes of Beinn Ruadh
Getting on to Beinn Ruadh from the more scenic west side of the hill (no hydrogen bomb stores in the view, or long approaches to bogs through Sitka spruce plantations) is not easy. There are no paths through the tussock grass, bracken or woodland and the steepness of the ground is the least of your problems. Here the woodland has been restored with all the young Sitka felled and the rotting trees are quite an obstacle. The bracken constantly undoes laces. Once above the woods on to the open hillside, the ground gets steeper but considerably easier.
