Historic England description
Doyden Castle - II Folly. Circa 1830. Built for Captain Conor. Fine quality ashlar stone with probably reused granite dressings. Square-on-plan. One room plan, built into side of rocky headland with entrance to basement on north east and entrance to ground floor on south west. Two storeys and basement. Much of dressed granite possibly reused. Diagonal leaded lights to all window openings. C20 plank door to basement on north east. Ground floor with 2-light mullioned window with hollow chamfer and hood moulds on north east and two-centred arched entrance opening on south west. The ground floor elevation on the north west and south east is set slightly forward with 2-light windows and battlemented parapet above. The first floor is lit by four 2-light windows in 2- centred arched openings with hollow chamfers and hood moulds. Battlemented parapet with four crocketed finials on corners. Interior not inspected. Reputed to have been built as a folly and wine store. Particularly picturesque building on unspoilt rocky headland above Port Quin.
