Pebble gravel, Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve
Pebble gravel, Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve
Fingringhoe Wick was originally a gravel workings. This image shows some of the pebble gravel remaining as a small cliff to the north of Kitt's Pond. The holes to the bottom left were originally excavated by mason bees, but have bees subsequently enlarged by weathering. During the summer, there were active mason bee colonies. The reserve is managed by the Essex Wildlife Trust LinkExternal link .
