Re-decking Blackpool North Pier
Re-decking Blackpool North Pier
Blackpool is the only town in the United Kingdom with three piers; the North Pier was completed in 1863, followed by the Central Pier in 1868 and the South Pier in 1893. When this photograph was taken, the Pier was being re-decked using a West African hardwood (of an unpronounceable name) which, I was informed by one of the construction crew, was expected to last for at least 50 years.
