Blind Arcading, St. Mary's, Canons Ashby
Interesting and unusual "blind arcarding" at the base of the West Front of the Priory church of St Mary in Canons Ashby. The arcading is the set of arches seen here along the wall, and they are referred to as "blind" because they filled in with stonework as opposed to being open arches. Note that the pillars are made from the local orange ironstone while the arched tops are limestone I think.
