Jerusalem Quarry, silent since the 1930s
Jerusalem Quarry, silent since the 1930s
The granite, for use in road-making, was extracted by blasting and the stone then travelled via a tramway to nearby Porthgain for crushing and then transportation by sea. On top of the cliff are the ruins of the brick storehouses and engine sheds. See also SM8032 : Brick remains and SM8132 : Relics of an industrial past
