John Hope Gateway, Royal Botanic Gardens
This gateway and new building opened to the public today, 7th October 2009, is named after an 18th century Regius Keeper who established an earlier botanical garden elsewhere in Edinburgh. The new building houses exhibition areas, plant sales, shop and restaurant. The structure on the roof is a 'quiet revolution' wind turbine which provides power for the building.
