Looking in the down direction at the groundframe controlling points on the approach to Fishguard railway station.

Fishguard is the terminus of a single track branch from Clarbeston Road Junction [LinkExternal link] on the West Wales line. The station is managed by Stena, the ferry operator, and the train service is operated by Arriva Trains Wales.

The station and adjacent deep water berths at Fishguard were built by the Great Western Railway as a terminal for the Atlantic passenger trade. Today, the port serves only ferries to Ireland and the station, reduced to a shadow of its former glory, is served by two passenger trains each day to meet the ferry sailings.
