NG2539 : Summit of Beinn na Moine

taken 8 years ago, 4 km from Orabost, Highland, Great Britain

Summit of Beinn na Moine
Summit of Beinn na Moine
The Gaelic name of this hill translates as 'Hill of Peat', which is pretty accurate.
It is unremarkable, and probably almost never visited by humans, being about three miles from the nearest road. There are deer paths, however - one of which can be seen crossing to the centre of the picture from bottom right. The hill has quite recently been sparsely planted with pine trees.
There is evidence of past cultivation, probably by the residents of Idrigill, which is a now-deserted settlement nearby.
