Gate into Rebel's Wood
Gate into Rebel's Wood
The footpath is from Orbost to the cliffs at Idrigill Point and beyond. A popular visit is to see the sea stacks known as Macleod's Maidens in grid square NG2436.
This gate and fence protects the recently planted woodland from foraging red deer, which are common in this area.
Rebel's Wood is a plantation of native trees dedicated in memory of Joe Strummer - co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead singer of the English punk rock band The Clash.
