1GL bench mark and bolt on St Oswald's, Filey
This large First Geodetic Levelling bench mark certainly stands out on the wall of St Oswald's as it is 6 feet above the ground. The mark was cut between 1844-45 and is mark 6 on a branch levelling from mark 140 on the Hull to Scarborough line. Also, the block of stone is cracked across where the bolt was inserted. The mark is west of a small side door in the south side of the church - see TA1181 : South door of St Oswald's, and a bench mark.
