A14 pedestrian bridge near Cranford St John
The A14 'M1-A1 Link' east of Kettering was built partly along the dismantled Kettering-Cambridge railway track, and for several years made difficult the use of a public footpath: pedestrians were expected to cross the road against traffic travelling at up to 70mph (or more). The gap in the crash barrier is visible in the centre of the photo. Eventually, after pressure from walkers, the bridge was completed at the end of 2005.
