The demise of Bellsgrove Lodge (from NM8365 : Bellsgrove Lodge to NM8365 : Dislodged?), while regrettable, was inevitable. Having chatted with the owner about it, it was built straight onto the bedrock, and water pretty much poured into it. Although the earlier picture shows the lodge in an apparently good state of repair, the roof timbers were rotten. In effect, the building was doomed from top to bottom.

The 'new' building NM8365 : Bellsgrove Lodge is contemporaneous with the original lodge and was, I believe, the stable block. This building's renovation has been ongoing for a few years now. The groundworks now under way include removal of a large chunk of that bedrock, so the new lodge will rise more or less from the ashes (well, rubble) of the original.
