Furze Field
Furze Field
The name of the field according to the 1843 tithe map and once part of Dumbles Common that was enclosed in the early 17th century. The shaw on the far side of the field is a remnant of Lashmar Wood that once ran down to Hundred Acre Wood but was grubbed up in the 1950s or 60s. A small section of maize has been left to provide cove for grouse.
