Middle Field
Middle Field
The name of the field according to the 1839 tithe map and once part of Plumpton Common that was enclosed in the late 16th century. All the field boundaries here were torn down in early January 1943 to allow construction for Chailey Advanced Landing Ground, a temporary airfield. The result is one huge and flat area of land to the west of Beresford Lane.
