St Mary's Church - 1
St Mary's Church - 1
Fine sandstone church on top of the hill. The spire can be seen for miles around. Dating from the 12th century, with some Norman features well in evidence, like the stonework around the original Norman door between the two windows on the south side - see SO6625 : Remains of an old south door, Linton Church. The church was fully restored in 1875, with repairs to the spire in 1904 and 1913. From 1865 for 38 years until his death, the vicar was the Reverend Edward Palin, great grandfather of Michael Palin.
