Edinburgh - Carstairs Junction railway
Edinburgh - Carstairs Junction railway
A spur of the West Coast main line, linking Edinburgh with the London - Glasgow route. Once trains would divide at Carstairs, with one half going to Glasgow and the other to Edinburgh. In those days the trees were newly planted.
The route is now also used as an alternative route from Glasgow to London, and is a fast route between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central. The train is bound for King's Cross out of Glasgow.
