Madeira Lift
Built in the 1830s the iron superstructure sits atop a brick tower connecting Marine Parade to Madeira Drive with the elevated Madeira Terrace in between. The lift mechanism was originally hydraulic (water pressure rather than oil) but was replaced by an electromechanical system C1930.
