River Thames, Sutton Bridge
River Thames, Sutton Bridge
Sutton Bridge was opened in 1808 as a toll bridge. Since the river here forms the boundary between Oxfordshire and Berkshire, in 1938 the two County Councils agreed to purchase the bridge from the proprietors, and from 1939 it became toll-free. The road it carries, though locally important, is unclassified.
