Devon Belle Steam Train approaching Kingswear Station
Devon Belle Steam Train approaching Kingswear Station
The Devon Belle's carriages are being pulled away from the photographer by the steam engine. The travellers are enjoying a fine view of the Dart estuary and are looking upriver. This part of the railway has been used in T.V. programmes because it is so photogenic. It may be hackneyed and slightly corny, but its appeal is undeniable.

The curve of the track alone is a pleasurable aesthetic feature, let alone the associations of the old carriages with the past and indeed fictional literature and film.

Autumnal hues are creeping into the wooded hillside above the track opposite Dartmouth.
