Dart Marina, Kingswear, looking upstream
A good place to enjoy the autumn afternoon sunshine. Below, tucked out of sight is the Kingswear railway station from which steam trains run to Paignton along a picturesque route. The yachts speak for themselves about the popularity of this marina. Above the river on the left sits the Britannia Royal Naval College, testament to the sheltered deep water port from which warships operated in the past and which defended this part of the south west. Warships still use the port. Over to the right, on the opposite side of the river from Dartmouth, the upper ferry can be seen approaching the boarding point.

The "old man's beard" in the foreground is rampaging over the wall.
