NZ4023 : Hamilton Russell public house, Thorpe Thewles The full name of the pub is Hamilton Russell Arms, which suggests a family name with heraldic connections. There is a portrait of just such a family (in Royal Cavalry uniforms) at http://www.commissionaportrait.com/artistsportfolio.asp?id=151 , but whether their ancestors had an association with SW Durham I do not know.
