A view from Oliver's Castle, near Heddington
The viewpoint is the western edge of the early Iron Age univallate hillfort. At the right is the edge of the Beacon Hill escarpment, which is access land. Although the land at the foot of the hill is farmland it is possible to cross it via a footpath. The line of sight is across the two degrees west meridian which, uniquely in the UK, coincides with an OSGB1936 south-north gridline.
