The statue on the opposite bank beside Workhouse Bridge is of Mrs Christina Collins who was raped and murdered on the canal in June 1839 SJ9033 : 'Christina' statue at Workhouse Bridge.
The bridge provided access to the workhouse which was later the Trent Hospital and has more recently been converted into apartments.
