WWII RAF Radar Station, Kinley Hill
One of the Chain Home Low (CHL) sites, an early detection radar warning system, detecting enemy aircraft movement at lower altitudes, often used with the fixed Chain Home system operated by the RAF during World War II LinkExternal link
There is anecdotal evidence that there may even have been a very early WWI acoustic mirror early warning system here similar to the one in Sunderland LinkExternal link
Recent evidence, however, suggests the Seaham mirror was located about 2km to the north-west NZ4148 although nothing of it can be found there today LinkExternal link
