Castles of Munster: Clonamicklon, Tipperary (2)
Almost squeezed out by modern farm sheds, this building within the Clonamicklon complex on the north side is of uncertain date. It has mullioned windows with hoodmoulds at the upper levels, and this together with the gable and surmounting chimneystack all suggest a date possibly as late as 1628, when Sir Pierce Butler was created Viscount Ikerron. However, it is also possible that the building may be a C14 hall-keep.
