Smitham station has frecently received a very ugly new footbridge, the one virtue of which is that it provides a viewpoint for photographs. Here we see the station from the footbridge, looking in the Up direction. The Down side station buildings have all been demolished, and Network Rail have promised a new, state-of-the-art building, even provided with toilets. We will wait and see - watch this space, but do not hold your breath.
