Barnacle Geese (Branta leucopsis), Haroldswick
Every year a few birds from the Svalbard breeding population of Barnacle Geese get drifted off course as they cross the North Sea on their way to the Solway wintering areas, and so they arrive in Shetland. This link has been proven by sightings of colour-ringed birds.
