Barton Aqueduct machinery
Barton Aqueduct machinery
My promised monochrome taken inside the engine house for the Barton Aqueduct on the occasion of a swing. Motive power is a duplicate pair of three cylinder radial engines using water hydraulic power. These were built by the Hydraulic Engineering Company of chester and must be replacements for original Armstrong machinery as fitted on the road bridge. The operative on watch gave us permission to look at the machinery and it was a real treat.
