SK5739 : Nottingham Odeon Frontage
near to Nottingham, Great Britain

Nottingham Odeon Frontage
On Angel Row.
This narrow frontage is a deceptive entrance to a large cinema behind. Opened as the Ritz in 1933 it originally had 2426 seats Link
. One of the architects was Alfred J. Thraves so I expect that the original frontage (replaced in this brutalist style, probably in 1964) looked something like this SK5940 : Entrance to Art-Deco Cinema.
By the time it closed in 2001 it had 6 screens and a total of 1855 seats.
The only film I can recall seeing here was Close Encounters of the Third Kind in 1977.
