This is the view east along the beach from the very north western corner of the square. Most of the buildings are in SY3591. The sea front underwent a major reconstruction in 2008. Most of the beach is coarse shingle such as that in the photo. There is an area of very fine sandy beach 200m west of this photo, close to the Cobb. A new break water now separates the sandy beach from the shingle. Both beach levels are slightly higher than they used to be and the sand regularly overflows onto the promenade and the shingle part of the beach.
