SE3742 : Pompocali

taken 13 years ago, near to Bardsey, Leeds, Great Britain

This is 1 of 3 images, with title Pompocali in this square
Pompocali is an area of earthworks, just south of Hetchell Wood between Bardsey and Scarcroft. It is traditionally believed to be the remains of a Roman Fort. However recent research suggests that it is more likely to be waste material from nearby quarrying around Hetchell Crags, possibly in the Roman period.
The research is documented at LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
