GeoGraph - photograph every grid square

Hmm, I can remember when this stetch really was a disused railway, i.e. with the track and signalling still in situ. It lay like this for the first half of the 1960s with just the ubiquitous Forest sheep to keep nature at bay, and although there was still the occasional train to the Wood Distillery at Speech House Road initially, the scrap metal man finally moved in around 1965.

Having cycled many of the courses of the old railways of the Forest of Dean around that time, when they were still just ballast with holes where the sleepers had been, these modern arrangements seem positively luxurious!!
