Parking area for Dalreoch railway station

This photograph was taken from the cycle path (NCN route 7), which closely follows the western bank of the River Leven here, and which runs from left to right along the bottom edge of this photo. The viewpoint is on the short section of the path between the points where it passes under NS3975 : The Artizan Bridge and NS3975 : Dumbarton Railway Bridge.

Until 2009, much of the area shown here was covered in grass, and was surrounded by trees. The new parking area shown here was officially opened just a few weeks before this photograph was taken. The table and benches visible in the foreground are described as a "picnic area".

The disabled parking spaces are located just behind them, on the other side of the metal fence (they are therefore the furthest from the railway station). The station itself cannot be seen from here, but is behind the trees in the upper right part of the photo; it is reached by the flight of steps visible centrally in the background, or by following the pavement alongside the road, left of centre.
