Ruins of Horsfield's Buildings, Whiskam Bank, Halifax
This row of cottages was one of the last off Old Bank to survive. It was still shown and named on the 1930s OS maps. The retaining wall must have been the inside of the front of the houses, although there is no trace of plaster or limewash. There is a small brick buttress, which I should think was constructed after demolition. The side of a flight of steps can be seen at the end, and then a high retaining wall that appears on the 1930 map, replacing some small buildings that are shown on the 1905 map.
