James Owen memorial window in Little St Mary's Church
"To the Glory of God and in thanksgiving for the life of James Owen, priest, Vicar of this Parish 1974-1993." Designed by Caroline Benyon and dedicated in 2000, this window takes as its theme the Holy Eucharist. The five loaves and two fishes in the left-hand light recall the miracle of the Feeding of the Five Thousand, with its eucharistic resonances. On the right are wheat, chalice and grapes, with the dove representing the Holy Spirit brooding over them. The design in based on circular motion, symbolic of eternity, and the colouring of rubies, blue and yellow satin is inspired by early medieval glass.
