SO8746 : Tree stump above The Old Park

near to Kerswell Green, Worcestershire, Great Britain

Tree stump above The Old Park
Tree stump above The Old Park
This recently felled diseased cedar tree above The Old Park was probably planted as part of 'Capability' Brown's landscaping of Croome park. I counted the rings (with difficulty) and estimate the tree was almost three hundred years old. As Brown was working in Croome in the 1750s and 60s if he was responsible the tree would already be some 40 to 50 years old.
