Ancient yew, St Nicholas' churchyard
Ancient yew, St Nicholas' churchyard
This hollow yew stands outside the main door of the church - which it probably pre-dates. Now held together by two encircling hawsers, it is encircled by an octagonal bench, each side of which is over a yard long, which gives the tree a girth of over 25 feet.
