Lock No 13 of the 76 locks on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Construction of the canal started in 1766 and it was opened fully in 1777, James Brindley being the engineer.

The yellow sign informs navigators of the prevailing status of the River Trent section of the canal beyond the next lock.
