Shackleton Association Memorial
Looking east with the River Tame in the background. The Avro Shackleton was in service between 1951 and 1991. Used for maritime reconnaissance, airborne early-warning, anti-submarine and air-sea rescue, they were known as the work horses of the Cold War. During their service, 16 aircraft were lost with 150 fatalities.
