Common Lock No 14 near Fradley, Staffordshire
On the Trent and Mersey Canal there are 76 locks in the 93.5 miles toal length from Derwent Mouth to Preston Brook. Common Lock (I'm not quite sure whether that is Fradley Common or Alrewas Common) is not a deep one; it lowers the water level here by 4ft 6in (about 1.4 metres) on the canal's route to actually meeting the Trent briefly for the first time beyond Alrewas Lock.
