Bonchurch: postbox № PO38 213, Bonchurch Shute
This interesting postbox stands on the corner of two interestingly named roads.
The Victorian postbox is interesting in that it is from the period 1879-87 when the 'VR' cipher was accidentally omitted, giving this design the nickname 'Anonymous box'. The two interestingly named roads are Bonchurch Shute (to the right and descending steeply behind us) and The Pitts (ahead).
The postbox is emptied finally at 4:45pm on weekdays and at 11:15am on Saturdays.
