Pictured on its last day of operation, the village shop and post office is named because it stands directly opposite the village pond. The premises have been on the market for a while but there have been no takers and the postmistress retires today. The community hopes to reinstate a post office – most likely a part-time one in a village hall, something like that – but none has been arranged as yet.
