On the Trent and Mersey Canal, this lock alters the water level by 6 feet 10 inches ( about 2.1 metres). The bottom gates are open and a narrowboat is about to enter the chamber from the east. One of the crew is approaching on the left to operate the gates. There are five locks in the flight at Fradley Junction, changing the water level by 35 feet 8 inches (nearly eleven metres).
