Newton Road, Torquay

Newton Road used to be known, to estate agents at least, as "The Golden Mile", because of its wealth of holiday accommodation, although less famously than those at Blackpool and many other towns around the world. However, although there are still many hotels and guest houses at the Torre end of the road, this stretch has been effectively bypassed by Riviera Way, and the guest houses have mostly reverted to conventional dwellings.
