Byway to Strata Florida, Powys

This byway, unsurfaced, yet "open to all traffic*" is approaching part of the enormous Tywi Forest, where the Lon Las Cymru (Cycle route No 8) takes a route which avoids many of the fords on the byway. Some of these can be dangerous, even impassable after heavy rain. The "puddle" seen here beyond the trio of sheep is probably the shallowest of these, made even less significant by the lack of rain for two weeks.

* only four wheel drive vehicles and properly equipped motor-cycles can access the route, but not on flood conditions. Cyclists who don't object to a bit of rough and wet feet should also enjoy it.
