SN8059 : Into the Tywi Forest, Drumnantyrhelyg, Powys
near to Nant y Bont [water Feature], Ceredigion, Great Britain

Into the Tywi Forest, Drumnantyrhelyg, Powys
This byway, unsurfaced and sometimes rocky, yet "open to all traffic*" is approaching part of the enormous Tywi Forest, where it links with the Lôn Las Cymru (Cycle route No 8). There are several fords on the byway, some of which can be dangerous, even impassable after heavy rain. That may be why the cycle route meanders a tremendous distance through the forest rather than taking the direct route along the valley.
* only four wheel drive vehicles and properly equipped motor-cycles can access the route, but it is inadvisable during flood conditions. Cyclists who don't object to a bit of rough and wet feet should also enjoy it.
