Bywell St. Peter - north chancel wall
Bywell St. Peter - north chancel wall
See NZ0461 : Bywell St. Peter. Pevsner says "In the N wall of the chancel is a blocked square-headed door with the jamb stones laid "Escomb fashion" (ie alternately flat and upright - see NZ1830 : Escomb Church), with still visible above it the roof-line of the porticus into which it opened; this overlapped the junction of nave and chancel in a rather strange way."
