Warwickslade Cutting: repositioned railway
Warwickslade Cutting: repositioned railway
After much heavy rain, the railway in this localised area is running through mud. But it is able to do this because of its low ground pressure. In the centre foreground can be seen a rail join that is not properly aligned due to a missing pin. I watched as the laden train approached and fortunately the weight of the train pushed the rails back into alignment. Empty trains travelling in the opposite direction are not heavy enough to do this but simply ride over the obstruction. I was told that, if the hoggin were being carried by the Marooka dumper trucks rather than by this railway, the work would have stopped for the winter by now due to the resulting surface damage.
