Each cottage has its own area of croft land, as can be seen quite clearly here. The house on the croft on the right, surrounded by woodland, is a modern building - the ruins of the original croft cottage can just be made out on the grass immediately above the trees.
It is common on Skye for croft owners to build a modern house on their land, sometimes preserving the original cottage for letting as a holiday home.
